IMB HD – Industrial metric led bar
The Machine Vision sector distinguishes itself by the speed with which industrial processes change to adapt not only to recent technological breakthroughs but also to the specific needs of an ever-growing market. In this context of continuous change, Genesi Elettronica confirms itself as an innovative company thanks to the continuous commitment of its developers to guarantee its customers high power and high-speed lighting solutions.
Among the latest innovations worthy of note stands out the IMB HD, a high-definition man-machine communication system developed to guarantee greater performance and full compatibility with Industry 4.0. The lighting solution allows the status of a moving product on a production line to be signalled by programming certain colours to indicate, for example, the presence of defects in certain objects.

What makes the IMB HD innovative is the high density of its LEDs. Arranged at 4 mm apart, they are ideal for use on very fast sorting lines and with close objects, where a high resolution of the LEDs is necessary in order to have a direct match between object and defect.
The application demonstration employs a linear camera supplied by Alkeria and two linear illuminators supplied by Genesi Elettronica, one with 6K white light (GX-6K) and one with UV365 light (GX-365) respectively. The novelty of this system lies in the fact that the linear camera is able to simultaneously acquire 2 images of the object running on the conveyor: the first image acquired with white light and the second with UV light.
As a result, the software will be able to detect not only the colours in RGB format of the products placed on the conveyor, in this case leather textiles, but also marker marks, simulating the defect, which are UV-sensitive and invisible to the naked eye.
The information collected by the software will then be transmitted to the IMB HD, allowing the operator to recognise the colour of each portion of leather on the conveyor and any marks sensitive to UV light.
