World Earth Day
April 22, 2024 marks the 54th anniversary of Earth Day worldwide. Established in 1970 by the United Nations, the main objective of World Earth Day is to safeguard our planet through a range of measures aimed at reducing air, soil and water pollution rates, as well as preserving the ecosystem.
Genesi Elettronica, in its transition towards a more environmentally sustainable future, has decided to embrace several measures to reduce its carbon footprint for a brighter future.
In an attempt to decrease the emissions of CO2, the company installed, first in 2014 and then in 2017, photovoltaic systems on both of its production sites, thus increasing their energy supplies. This decision made it possible, over the years, to reduce electricity and gas consumption generated from non-renewable energies by 700 tonnes.
The undertaken measures, however, concern not only the depletion of non-renewable resources but also the reduction of plastic packaging through the introduction of an environmentally friendly one, made of:
- Cardboard box;
- Bubble wrap, made from recycle plastic;
- Paper scotch.
- Use of thermal water bottles, so to avoid any type of disposable plastic bottles;
- Use of ceramic cups and mugs for coffee or herbal teas, in an attempt to prevent the waste of dispoable cups;
- Use of coffee in compostable pods;
- Increase of waste sorting, so to give new life to waste materials.
